An exciting opportunity has arisen for the 2D Design Team Lead in Brown Bag Films Dublin studio!
Successful candidate will oversee the creation of artwork that communicates the creative vision of the designated shows’ Directors and Art Director in line with the workflow and pipeline needs and to a consistent style and to the quality level required.Also will manage designated 2D Design team through support, training, collaboration and leadership.
*Managing the creation of 2D designs for different types of assets (characters, props, sets, FX) across designated shows, maintaining quality, design and pipeline requirements.
*Undertaking practical artwork on multiple shows to maintain versatility and creativity.
*Reviewing time log reports of the 2D Design team.
*Conducting regular one on ones with the 2D Designers and submitting quarterly performance reviews.
*Working with the Art Directors to ensure design outputs are meeting requirements.
*Proactively problem solving; creating the IT and pipeline tickets to address any technical problems for the department.
*Managing the development of tools and identifying and implementing solutions.
*Collaborating with the production and CG teams.
*Contributing to art department meetings to ensure efficiency and productivity of the department.
*Road mapping the longer-term view for the 2D design needs for BBF.
*A grounding in art knowledge with a strong understanding of anatomy and appeal when creating assets in various styles.
*Good knowledge of the 3D pipeline and how it works to understand what is needed from the art department.
*Extensive and broad experience as a 2D Designer including in a leadership role (or similar position) on completed production(s) in either broadcast or feature film work.
*Experience in animation pipeline (desirable).
*Experience of coaching or mentoring artists.
*Working with asset tracking systems (e.g. Shotgun) (desirable).
*Expert level with Adobe Photoshop.
Portfolio should show examples of a variety of different styles, environments, layout, props and turnarounds.
Equivalent experience should be highlighted in Cover letter.

Should the Covid19 restrictions still apply we are looking for successful candidate to start remotely first and then relocate to Dublin office on a full time bases once restrictions are removed. Must be able to work remote should the restrictions apply.
