Learning and Development Specialist
Responsibilities of the Learning and Development Specialist Include:
Production Learning & Development
To identify the learning and development needs within each Production in both studios
Support Management at planning budgetary stage in advance of Section 481 application part A, assist in creating detailed training plans and tracking processes for Section 481 Part B application and the evaluation of training on project completion to be submitted to Screen Skills Ireland and Revenue.
Build a strong relationship with Screen Skills Ireland and become the main point of contact for all Section 481 related issues and queries. Develop a deep understanding of the Section 481 training requirement and keep updated with changes to process and approaches by Screen Skills Ireland and Revenue.
To research appropriate course material and work with Production Managers and HR Manger to develop new learning opportunities for inclusion in existing programmes and any new programmes developed.
Where applicable organise in-house Masterclasses with more experienced staff to share their expertise and external industry experts.
Provide ongoing soft skills training to staff and managers
To prepare materials for training courses (printing manuals/video etc)
Learning & Development Administration
Manage relationships with Training Providers both internal and external
Full management for scheduling and recording evaluations on all Learning & Development activities and providing a monthly report to the Producer/HR Manager on training provided and attendees
Ownership and management of the learning and development budget.
Continue to foster a culture of learning across both studios and invite regular feedback from employees to keep providing best practice support
Lead local induction and on-boarding programs in conjunction with the HR team
Support the HR Manager with all other relevant activities
Maintain accurate records for all learning and development activities.
Deliver and coordinate training on HR driven activities, e.g. performance management, HR policies, induction, roll out of culture & values initiatives etc.
Provides strategic direction and development of functional managers.
Provides direction, development, and support to supervisors, leads, and employees as required to make decisions based on context, culture, and collaboration.
Communicates feedback and addresses any and all performance issues, providing recognition, coaching when appropriate.
Oversees and manages any operational projects, both those internal to Boulder and those from Hasbro.
Evaluates, monitors, rolls out, and makes recommendations to senior leadership regarding L&D on an on-going basis to ensure that plans/objectives are met, expected results are achieved, infrastructure/systems are effective, and corrective action is taken when necessary; this may include providing guidance and counsel to other leaders/teams as needed.
Collaborates with various divisions within Hasbro, Inc (i.e., Allspark, Corporate Shared Services, HR, etc.) to execute segment and global initiatives.
Conducts analysis of current workflows and works to strategically improve where necessary.
Actively resolves any issues as they arise, and proactively improves process and procedures collaborating with stakeholders, employees, etc. as appropriate.
Revises and/or formulates policies and promotes their implementation.
Learning & Development Strategic Development
Develop a learning & development strategy, design and deliver programmes to support this strategy based on business needs.
Successfully develop and foster the desired competencies and capabilities within each function in Boulder Media.
Design and facilitate engaging learning activities geared towards adult learners through experience, discovery, reflection, and discussion to enhance employee retention and knowledge transfer.
Support the development of a high-performance culture, the evolution of performance management practices and conversations through L&D initiatives to embed a values-based performance culture.
Analysing training needs in conjunction with leaders to deliver appropriate and effective L&D solutions for the needs of each production.
Design of technical training in conjunction with subject matter experts.
Management of external training providers along with evaluating training programs to continuously improve external training programs and ensure alignment with business needs.
Lead on the development and coordination of leadership development within Boulder Media.
Liaises with key stakeholders of the business to design, provide, and measure optimal L&D support.
Works with appropriate partners to lead and manage the daily operation, coordination of L&D projects, overall output quality, and ensures policies and procedures are consistently enforced and/or followed.
Establishes and maintains effective relationships with other department leaders and stakeholders to ensure L&D roll out across the business.
Cultivates and leads an organizational culture that promotes a professional, collaborative, L&D environment for all employees.
In conjunction with the HR team, creates, implements, and manages an on-going “Action Plan” to improve and maintain employee engagement and satisfaction.
3 + years’ experience in a Learning & Development role.
Experience within the animation or film industry is a distinct advantage (knowledge of the animation industry would be preferred but not essential).
Knowledge of Section 481 is a distinct advantage.
Previous experience of designing and delivering soft skills training essential
Effective communication and organisation skills are essential
Experience of working in a creative/media organisation an advantage
Strong MS Office/Google Suite experience
Must enjoy working with people and fostering internal relationships
Demonstrated ability to establish processes, L&D policies, and procedures.
Experience with being the initial point of contact and ongoing liaison for team members with cross-functional stakeholders throughout the organization.
Must have a fast-paced production mindset, and the ability to work in multiple international time zones.
Knowledge & Skills Required:
Well organized multitasker with demonstrated accomplishment in an L&D role.
A strong ability to be an effective and accountable leader and people manager, with well-developed skills in active listening, change management, collaboration, and communication.
Exceptional ability to collaborate with stakeholders and project/functional leads to identify L&D project requirements, clearly determine scope of work, budget, specific deliverables, and timelines.
Demonstrated success in providing mentorship and guidance to cross-functional teams, as well as very strong influential skills.
Ability to gracefully navigate a complex system of stakeholders with disparate objectives and priorities.
